A Month of Innovation & Building: Storyblok x Code & Coffee Hackathon 2025

Storyblok is the first headless CMS that works for developers & marketers alike.

This September, we created a space for everyone to experiment, learn, and build meaningful projects powered by Storyblok. In collaboration with Code & Coffee and supported by Algolia, Storyblok hosted a month-long virtual hackathon, bringing together builders, developers, and innovators from across the globe for a collaborative learning and building experience.

From solo hackers to small teams, participants had the opportunity to showcase their creativity, connect with mentors, and compete for $4,500 in prizes 💰 and a chance for a US-based team to attend JoyConf NYC 2025! ✈ 🇺🇸

The hackathon wrapped up last week, and what a journey it has been! Over the course of Sept 1–30, 2025, developers from around the world brought ideas to life, from apps and websites to integrations and tools – proving that innovation knows no bounds.

Hackathon Highlights

  • Participants had 30 days to brainstorm, prototype, and implement their projects.
  • 800+ builders joined solo or in teams of up to three members, making it a fully virtual event.
  • Developers from 65+ countries collaborated and competed, making it truly global.
  • 10+ mentors, judges, & speakers guided participants, offering valuable feedback & support.
  • In total, 35+ innovative projects were submitted, all built with Storyblok at the core.

These numbers reflect the collaboration and engagement that made this hackathon a huge success! 🎉

The Projects & Winners

The hackathon brought together incredible builders who created innovative projects across gaming, AI, and mobile development. Shoutout to some of the top projects.

🥇 Hackathon Winning Team – GameBlok reimagined multiplayer gaming by using Storyblok for dynamic, real-time content delivery, combining technical depth with playful creativity.

🥈 1st Runners-Up – Official Storyblok MCP Server built a secure, OAuth-authenticated MCP server to connect AI agents with Storyblok, paving the way for future enterprise integrations.

🥉 2nd Runners-Up – Blipod brought real-time visual editing to mobile using Storyblok’s Live Preview SDK for Flutter, React Native, and Expo.

🗽 JoyConf NYC Spirit Award – Blipod also won the JoyConf NYC Spirit Award, celebrating their community energy and storytelling.

🎁 Sponsor Challenge – Powered by Algolia – Rhythm Lab Selector transformed two decades of radio archives into a dynamic, AI-powered content hub using Storyblok and Algolia.
