Kid's Concept, founded in 2007 in Sweden, has redefined children's furnishings with a focus on sustainability and playful design. Their collaboration with Distancify, a Swedish digital agency, aimed to transform their digital presence. With the help of Storyblok, Kid's Concept achieved dynamic storytelling on their website. This allowed them to tell captivating stories about their products and streamline content management. The result is a consumer-facing website that not only enables direct sales but also complies with GDPR regulations and prepares for future growth. Remarkably, it was ready for launch in just 3 months, the project handover took 1 day, and the website has a 100% Best Practices Lighthouse score.

I have used almost all the CMSs in the market and they are all either user-friendly or developer-friendly. Not Storyblok! Storybook has a balance and provides both.

These problems showed that Kid's Concept needed a major upgrade of their digital setup. They partnered with Distancify to fix these issues and revamp their online presence.

  • Limited Digitalization and Brand Communication: The previous platform lacked the necessary digitalization and brand communication tools, making it challenging for Kid's Concept to establish a strong online presence and effectively communicate their brand identity.
  • Manual Sales Processes: The platform heavily relied on manual sales processes, resulting in inefficiencies that impeded the company's ability to scale up. Additionally, content management and updates were cumbersome, causing delays in publishing.
  • Absence of a Direct-to-Consumer Platform: Kid's Concept lacked a direct-to-consumer platform, which hindered their ability to engage directly with their customer base and offer a seamless shopping experience.
  • Dependence on Printed Catalogs: The company's reliance on traditional printed catalogs made it difficult to adapt to changing market demands.
  • Lack of Dynamic Features: The platform lacked dynamic features necessary for online retail, interfering with the user experience and affecting customer satisfaction and retention rates.

A digital transformation project is like a Trojan horse. Our customers approach us with a problem that we can easily fix. However, once we start looking into the business we always identify more areas that need improvement and we come up with solutions. We don’t offer quick fixes for our customers but work hard on solving all their problems. The same happened with Kid’s Concept.

The project included multiple aspects of the business, but our focus here is on the website and webshop. A complete revamp of Kid’s Concept’s website with very dynamic layouts and the new webshop designed to support consumer purchases was delivered in close to 3 months.

They used a multi-platform approach to achieve their goals. Litium was used for Product Information Management (PIM) and e-commerce functions. Distancify built a custom search engine using Elastic search. The PIM system centralizes product data, and a connector was created between the PIM and CMS using Storyblok's Management API. This means when a new product is added to the PIM, the website updates automatically.

Integrating these platforms on the front-end was a challenge, but Distancify managed to create a dynamic website while giving editors full control over the site structure. What's unique is that Kid's Concept has the freedom to structure their website as they like, without the typical eCommerce URL constraints. They can create custom category and content pages in Storyblok and fetch data from the PIM on the fly. This flexibility is possible because of Storyblok's adaptable data model and Distancify's framework.

Replacing content such as images and text has become so much easier compared to our previous platform. Our overall experience has been that Storyblok’s CMS is easy to work with and you get a good overview. Our favorite feature is being able to simply copy blocks.

At first, the Kid's Concept team was unsure about using Storyblok because they had never used it before. However, during the handover, they quickly realized its potential and loved its features. The project handover was completed in just one day.

The result is a consumer-friendly website that allows Kid's Concept to sell directly to consumers, and even their B2B sales are moving to the website. It's also available in three languages: Swedish, English, and French. The website is now GDPR compliant, which means it follows data protection regulations for European citizens.

In the future, Kid's Concept and Distancify will create a wholesale website for Kid's Concept's partners (stores and distributors) to place orders online. It will be managed easily within Storyblok.
