Brave Browser has shields that protect your privacy as you browse by making it harder to track you from site to site. Many sites include all kinds of trackers which can follow you across the web. Shields block this type of content, keeping you safe and even increasing your browsing speed.
However, these shields prevent the Visual Editor to work correctly. You need to deactivate them in order to use the Visual Editor:
First, click on the shield icon in the browser bar {1}:

Now the shields are down {1} and the Visual Editor should work.
