Agent Skills
Storyblok Agent Skills instruct AI coding agents, such as Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor, to work efficiently with Storyblok. The skills follow Agent Skills, an open format for instructions that agents load on demand.
The skills cover the following tasks:
- Content modeling: create and change blocks, content types, and fields.
- Frontend development: write and register the components that render a space’s blocks.
- Figma implementation: turn a design into Storyblok blocks and the components that render them.
- Space management: use the MCP server or the CLI, depending on the task.
Install
Section titled “Install”Storyblok ships the skills as a plugin. The plugin installs every skill, registers the Storyblok Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, and updates through the agent’s plugin manager.
To install the plugin in every supported agent on your device, run the following command:
npx plugins add storyblok/agent-pluginThe plugins CLI detects which of the following agents you have, and installs the plugin for your user account through each one’s own plugin system:
- Claude Code
- Codex
- Cursor
- GitHub Copilot CLI
- Grok Build
- Kimi Code
- VS Code
To install the plugin manually, or in an agent the plugins CLI doesn’t support, such as Kiro or Antigravity, follow the steps for the agent:
Add the marketplace and install the plugin from inside Claude Code:
/plugin marketplace add storyblok/agent-plugin/plugin install storyblok@storyblokOr from a shell:
claude plugin marketplace add https://github.com/storyblok/agent-plugin.gitclaude plugin install storyblok@storyblokcodex plugin marketplace add storyblok/agent-plugincodex plugin add storyblok@storyblokClone the plugin into Cursor’s local plugins folder:
git clone https://github.com/storyblok/agent-plugin ~/.cursor/plugins/local/storyblokIn Cursor’s settings, enable Allow Local Plugin Imports, and then reload the Cursor window.
Open the Powers panel, select Add Custom Power → Import power from GitHub, and enter https://github.com/storyblok/agent-plugin.
git clone https://github.com/storyblok/agent-pluginagy plugin install ./agent-pluginFor an agent without plugin support, install the skills with the skills CLI, and then set up the MCP server:
npx skills add storyblok/agent-pluginSkills
Section titled “Skills”The agent loads a skill when a request matches the skill’s description. To use a skill explicitly, mention it by name in the prompt.
The plugin has no custom slash commands. In Claude Code, each skill is also available as a slash command, prefixed with the plugin name. For example, /storyblok:storyblok-model-content.
| Skill | Use it to | Example prompt |
|---|---|---|
storyblok-use-storyblok |
Start any Storyblok task. The agent loads this skill first to pick the right tool and skill for the request. | “Add an FAQ section to the pricing page” |
storyblok-model-content |
Create or change blocks, content types, and fields, or model a content schema from a description or a design. | “Model content for a blog” |
storyblok-build-frontend |
Write, register, and validate the frontend components that render a space’s blocks. | “Build an Astro + Storyblok landing page” |
storyblok-implement-figma |
Turn a Figma design into Storyblok blocks and the frontend components that render them. Requires a connected Figma MCP server. | “Build this Figma design with Storyblok” |
storyblok-use-mcp |
Call the MCP server correctly: the tool model, operation names, and payload shapes for every resource. | — |
storyblok-use-cli |
Use the Storyblok CLI for code-driven schemas, content migrations, and bulk pulls and pushes. | “Pull all stories from this space” |
The other skills load storyblok-use-mcp and storyblok-use-cli when a task needs the MCP server or the CLI.
How skills relate to the MCP server
Section titled “How skills relate to the MCP server”The MCP server and the skills are separate, and the plugin installs both:
| MCP server | Agent Skills | |
|---|---|---|
| Provides | Access to a Storyblok space through the Management API | Instructions for using that access: which operation fits a task, what a valid schema looks like, and when to use the CLI |
| Works without the other | Yes | Yes, using the CLI or direct Management API calls instead |
| Permissions | The spaces and permissions you grant | None of their own. Every change runs through the MCP server or the CLI |
Without the skills, an agent works out operations and payloads by trial and error. This takes more time and tokens, and tends to create new components instead of reusing existing ones.
To check what the skills run, fetch, and send on your machine, refer to the plugin’s README.
Update
Section titled “Update”To get fixes and new skills, update the plugin. Run npx plugins add storyblok/agent-plugin again, or follow the steps for the agent:
claude plugin update storyblok@storyblokRefresh the marketplace, and then reinstall the plugin:
codex plugin marketplace upgrade storyblokcodex plugin add storyblok@storyblokPull the latest version into the plugin folder, and then reload the Cursor window:
git -C ~/.cursor/plugins/local/storyblok pullIn the Powers panel, select storyblok, and then select Check for updates.
Antigravity installs a copy of the plugin, so pulling the clone doesn’t update it on its own. Pull the latest version, and then install the plugin again:
git -C agent-plugin pullagy plugin install ./agent-pluginSkills installed with the skills CLI don’t update with the plugin. To update them, run:
npx skills updateWas this page helpful?
