# Tags

The Tags app adds a field type for maintaining a list of string labels, such as `electronics`, `clothing`, and `books` on a product. The field returns the selected values as JSON, together with the plugin metadata.

## Features

-   Build a list of strings in one field.
-   Select and display distinct labels.
-   Set a placeholder shown while the field is unfocused.
-   Prefill the field with an initial set of tags.

## Setup

In the **Block Library**, select the block you want to edit, add a field, set its field type to **Plugin**, and set the custom type to `storyblok-tags`.

The field takes the following options:

| Option | Description |
| --- | --- |
| `placeholder` | Text shown while the field is unfocused. |
| `initialValue` | JSON-encoded array of strings, for example `["AUS", "BRA", "FRA"]`. |

Add `initialValue` yourself as an extra option.
