# Import Translatable Fields

The Import Translatable Fields app adds an **Import** action to the **Config** tab of a story and reads back the XML or JSON file that a translation tool produced. It pairs with the [Export Translatable Fields app](/docs/apps/export-translatable-fields) to complete a [field-level translation](/docs/concepts/internationalization) workflow.

## Features

-   Import a translated story from XML or JSON.
-   Accept files from translation tools such as Trados and LingoHub.

## Setup

1.  Install the Export Translatable Fields and Import Translatable Fields apps.
2.  Define the languages of the space in its settings.
3.  Write the content in the default language.
4.  Select the target language in the menu bar.
5.  Export the story from its **Config** tab.
6.  Translate the file in your translation tool.
7.  Import the translated file with the target language selected.

To run the same steps programmatically, use the Management API.
